A lot of interesting exhibitions continue their run this month. Our current spotlight falls on the collaborative exhibition, GLIMPSES of New York and Amsterdam in 2040 (June 8 – September 10, 2011). The exhibition highlights work by architects in both cities and delves into the future of daily life in both these cities and related planning issues.

SFI 10+1 Conference Report

Last weekend, the annual Structures for Inclusion conference brought together activists, designers, funders, and policy makers who are at the forefront of designing in the public interest. Leading voices weighed in, including Rural Studio, Public Workshop, Trung Le, and Thomas Fisher. The theme throughout the conference was how design can enable every person to live in a socially, economically, and environmentally healthy community.

Golden Cubes Nominees Announced

The Association of Architecture Organizations (AAO) announced today four National Nominees that will represent the United States in the international phase of the inaugural Architecture & Children Golden Cubes Awards conducted by the International Union of Architects (UIA). The U.S. Nominees now join other top programs from across the globe as part of a celebration of K-12 Architecture Education efforts at the UIA Congress in Tokyo, Japan, September 25-28, 2011. The UIA will select four final winners in the international phase.
