Columbus Area Visitors Center

The Visitors Center actively markets the uniqueness and advantages of the Columbus/Bartholomew County community while engaging and educating visitors, overnights guests and residents. In addition to providing information about all there is to see and do in Bartholomew County, the Visitors Center provides a wide variety of guided and self-guided tour options that enable visitors to explore the 80+ significant works of modern architecture and public art for which Columbus is well known.

Columbus, population 45,000, is ranked sixth in the nation for architectural innovation and design by the American Institute of architects. This small city is home to works by architectural giants such as Eliel and Eero Saarinen, Robert Venturi, Harry Weese, IM Pei, Richard Meier and Gunnar Birkerts. Visitors to Columbus can also tour Miller House and Garden, Eero Saarinen’s midcentury masterpiece with interiors by Alexander Girard and landscape by Dan Kiley. Miller House is considered to be one of the most important midcentury modern residences in the United States.
