From Kid to Student to Architect: Connecting the Dots Along the Learning Pathway (Part 2) (2015 Design Matters Conference)

As part of the same-title session at the 2015 Design Matters Conference, Ed Orlowski, associate professor of architecture at Lawrence Technological University, shared a brief presentation about organizing college and graduate-level students to respond to real-world design challenges posed by local community groups. There is much in Orlowski's approach that echoes the work of traditional K-12 architectural organizations, but, of course, his Activist Architecture and Design Studio course at LTU deals with emerging designers in higher education.

Digital Content Marketing (2015 Design Matters Conference)

At the 2015 Design Matters Conference, Jill Farley and Patrick Miner of the Chicago Architecture Foundation (CAF) led a breakout session on "Developing Your Organization's Digital Content Marketing Strategy." Content marketing focuses on creating and distributing valuable, relevant, and consistent content to attract and retain a clearly-defined audience. Survey of Architectural Organizations - Europe & Asia (2015 Design Matters Conference)

As host of the International Directors Council meeting (aka large organizations round table) at the 2015 Design Matters Conference in Chicago, IL, Kent Martinussen (CEO, Danish Architecture Centre) shared an overview of several architectural organizations practicing in Asia and Europe. The talk emphasized the recent proliferation of architectural organizations globally, and enumerated some of the unique hybrid roles being asked of these organizations by both the design industry as well as government agencies.
