AAO Exhibitions and Public Programs Pitch Session (2014 Design Matters Conference)

This compendium of 10 presentations by AAO members was delivered during the 2014 Design Matters Conference in Washington, DC (November 12-15). The group came together to share speculative ideas each had for the development of future design exhibitions and public programs; all sought the chance to gain feedback from the group, identify potential program collaborators, and generally see what new thinking was catching on with their peers. It's a great sampling of the ideas and talents at work across the AAO Network.

Senior Curator with the Getty Research Institute Christopher Alexander participated as a panelist in the 2013 AAO Conference session entitled "Architecture Exhibitions: New Models for Collaboration." The core of Alexander's remarks revolved around the Getty's recent exhibition, "Overdrive: LA Constructs the Future, 1940-1990" and its extensive programming partnership with LA arts and culture outlets through the Pacific Standard Time Presents initiative. Rights issues preclude the sharing of his slides, but here is a good online resource to get you started.
